Pros
Good pay, easy interview process.
Cons
They switched to a different company
Pros
Nothing good here, worst company
Cons
They do harassment of employees. During interview process they say we are hybrid and once you join manager will force you to come all 5 days, either come or give your resignation. Cheap mentality Managers are there, they even don’t know how to treat employees
Pros
The initial interview process was honest and transparent, and it was nice that the panel seemed open to someone from a roads background learning wastewater on the job. Some colleagues were helpful, and there was initially a sense that I could grow into the role at Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA).
Cons
In reality, the team dynamic was pretty toxic. The hierarchy made no sense, I was hired as a Civil Engineer, but found myself effectively being supervised and nitpicked by a graduate who'd been there longer. It felt like she was constantly trying to one-up me to prove something to the senior engineers. On top of that, the team was always gossiping about the CAD team behind their backs, which just added to the negativity. If they didn't like the CAD team's work, why not do it themselves or address it properly instead of complaining? To top it off, when the senior manager found out my salary, he acted like it was coming out of his own pocket, making a fuss about something that shouldn't have been a big deal.
Pros
good company for working individuals
Cons
have a very weak recruitment process
Pros
Great place to take and receive as much experience and exposure to start your career
Cons
Complacent management, favoritism, overworking employees, management refusing to reward employees for experience, "involuntary" overtime that is paid as straight overtime which ultimately pays less and creates job burnout, complacent in new hiring, open office concept makes it very difficult to focus on your day to day task at hand, management and senior management is very top heavy
Pros
Work from home set up Yearly salary increase
Cons
The management was good until new tower lead was hired and he eventually hired his former colleagues as supervisors. Supervisors were lazy.
Pros
Great team and great place to work
Cons
Interview and hiring process is slightly slower
Pros
Great name. Flexible at times if you need to work from home.
Cons
-Empty office. -Minimal guidance and direction. -No training. -Team can be toxic and work against you. -Cuts on salary if contract and trying to learn and train yourself. -Mismanaged at many levels. -Hiring team can disqualify you and discourage you based on bias to hire others from their relatives and friends.
Pros
My paychecks did not bounce.
Cons
There are plenty of downsides to working there. I worked in the Buildings & Places division. They claimed to have the work. All they had were tenant improvement projects instead of the large building projects they claimed to have. I was treated very poorly. I was given subpar work while my younger colleagues were given the massive building projects. My colleagues were not good at designing their structures. They missed basic engineering concepts like how to anchor structures to wood. I had to correct a majority of their mistakes. They did not have many typical details. This explains why they burn through budgets. The constant changing of staff means that budgets get blown because the new engineer must approve what the laid off engineer did. They use outsourcing of structural engineers alot. When I was asked to review their work, it was not complete. They did not even have calculations prepared. They had no clue about building codes. My unprofessional boss was a narcissist. He harassed me constantly. I was never notified of any issues for several months until he sprang a Performance Improvement Plan on me. I asked for evidence behind the PIP. My boss and HR refused to provide it to me. My boss took the side of the other person without even consulting me first. I was punished constantly. He gaslit me constantly. The only way I could keep track of what he said was to have a tape recorder on me at all times. How does someone improve if they do not know what they did wrong? My boss offered me no praise at all. My boss is the jealous type that fears what he does not understand or cannot tolerate. After I was issued the PIP, my boss increased his petty and unjustified attacks against me. He stood over me and treated me like a criminal. He sent me instant messages every hour without giving me a chance to do my work. He called me up on Teams constantly. He asked me to give him deadlines for projects before I had a chance to review them. Then when I did not meet the deadlines, he would scold me like a child. HR harassed me constantly and told me to keep quiet. They kept telling me they never laid off any employees they PIPped. That was a lie because I was laid off thanks to toxic employees. My boss ordered me to ignore structural safety issues. I was asked to jeopardize my professional engineering licenses for the firm's profitability. My boss asked me to only approve responses to comments of building plans. The problem with that is that the buildings have no complete lateral and gravity systems. This boss cared only about profit for the job, not whether these buildings were safe. Company has unlimited PTO. Good luck trying to use it. After I was laid off, I got no money for unused vacation time. My boss ordered me to charge my time to jobs that I did not do because he ordered the job codes locked out. My boss got upset because I charged time to Overhead on videos that corporate made their employees watch. My boss never did this with any of the other employees. They never ordered my business cards. They never ordered my headset so I could talk through Teams. I was given an unsafe one to use. It had exposed wires. They never got all the software I needed to do my job. My boss harassed me for not having it. I never had it because he failed to sign off on the paper work. This company is always laying people off by claiming they do not have the work yet they are hiring new people. They refused to let those people transfer to over departments. Many of the laid off people were over 40 and close to retirement. The company is laying people off so they can hire lower salaried individuals. The company had plenty of openings in other business sectors, yet I was not allowed to transfer into any of them because my boss laid me off. A day before that happened, he congratulated me for my transfer yet it never got approved. My boss lies so much it is like water running out of a fire hydrant. Even when it was on tape, this boss denied what he said. This boss even went on social media to delete the videos of him and his co-worker harassing me. Guess they do not want people to see the toxic work environment for themselves. The firm had the audacity to make me sign a severance agreement asking me not to talk about the harassment they put me through. My boss almost tried to kill me due to the stress I had to endure. Being an admired company is a complete joke because they treat their employees badly. Recently, a long-term employee filed suit against them for cooking their books and illegal termination. That employee said the CEO loved having high turnover. This is a big fat recipe for a major disaster. You need to run away from this company as fast as you can.
