      Cons

I encountered several issues within the Customer Care department: • Leadership: The prevalent micromanagement approach hindered employee autonomy and growth. Supervisors appeared more focused on exerting control than offering constructive support. • Employee Retention: The department experienced a high turnover rate, with many colleagues leaving due to dissatisfaction and inadequate support. Overtime Practices: The imposition of mandatory weekly overtime for several consecutive months lead to employee burnout. Moreover, some supervisors require employees to make up missed mandatory overtime due to illness by adding in the missed required hours the following week which can result in extra shifts. Doubling mandatory OT hours due to an employee being sick is simply not in the policy although the supervisor states that it’s her expectation. lacking compassion and consideration for employees’ well-being This experience was particularly disappointing, as it felt like the rotten part of an otherwise good apple, contrasting sharply with Alaska Airlines’ overall reputation for excellence. I hope the company addresses these issues to improve the work environment for future employees. After meeting some people from Alaska it seems like the happier employees are in department who’s in a Union contract. Customer Care Department is non Union. It makes me wonder if that’s what makes this union so different from other department. Leadership seemed to get away with a lot.
