What is the hiring process like at Boston Scientific?

      Great place to intern

      Pros

Great company to work for. Everyone is very nice, and you learn a lot. It is a large company and certainly feels like working for a large company in a good way. They offer relocation for interns beyond 50 miles and will help with the housing process at some locations. The YPN mentorship program assigns mentors to interns and my mentors were really good. The company has clearly defined values. I am strongly considering returning in the future.

      Cons

Even though a relocation stipend is provided, it is not enough for some locations with a higher cost of living. I would like to see this adjusted to match the cost of living of different sites. The hiring process could be improved. Everyone was super nice during the interviews, but the process took a long time, and I was not notified about the offer until the very end of the semester.

Cromulent. Supportive management and good pay, but rigid culture.

      Pros

Pay and benefits. Resources are not constrained. Continuous flow of new products means new challenges and opportunities. Support and involvement from managers real and present, reassuring.

      Cons

This location is a small outpost of a huge foreign company. Culture and policies defer to larger entity. So the there is an aspect of rigidity and sterility that can't be avoided. There is a heavy burden of continuously keeping up to date with rules and policies that is tiresome, But you have to keep up the pretence of knowing and following these rules and policies. This is an environment well suited to people looking for " just a job", Less so for those looking for " more than a job". During the hiring process make sure to define and get a good understanding of the role and responsibility.

      Pros

there is nothing good to say about this traumatic experience which ended up being the worst decision

      Cons

I accepted an offer from this company, leaving behind a stable and fulfilling position at a much better organization. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be deeply disappointing and unprofessional. Despite promises made during the hiring process: 1. No Insurance or Benefits: The company failed to meet its obligations as an employer. None of the benefits they promised—such as insurance and a food allowance—were ever provided. To make matters worse, they later cited these unfulfilled obligations as a reason for firing me—an explanation that was both absurd and fabricated. 2. Toxic Work Environment: A colleague, who should have been held accountable for repeated unprofessional behavior, bullied me within three months of joining. This bullying even happened in my manager’s presence, and he just sat there, doing absolutely nothing to intervene. When I raised the issue with him, I was told it was my responsibility to handle the situation, even though I was not her manager. 3. No Onboarding: From day one, there was no formal onboarding process to help me integrate into the company or understand their operations. I was essentially left to figure everything out on my own, which only exacerbated the disorganization and lack of accountability across teams. 4. Unjust Termination: I was fired in my fifth month under the pretense of issues that were entirely caused by the company itself. They cited the failure of their own benefits program—something completely outside of my control—as a reason for termination. Additionally, they ignored the bullying I endured, even though it happened in front of my manager, who chose to look the other way. To top it off, during my termination meeting, my manager astonishingly fished for compliments about the team’s culture, completely disregarding the toxic and hostile environment they had fostered. The company operates as if it were a disorganized startup, despite being a well-established organization. This reveals an alarming lack of organizational maturity and professionalism. Responsibilities are assigned arbitrarily and without proper structure. For instance, in Colombia, the financial controller was treated as a top authority in the company. However, this same individual was responsible for ensuring employee benefits were operational—tasks that clearly fall within HR’s scope, not finance. This chaotic and inept approach to leadership and processes reflects a systemic failure that undermines trust and credibility. The overall workplace culture was deeply toxic. My manager forced me to go to the office once a month for meetings that were exclusive to “his team leaders,” with the expectation that we should feel privileged to attend. In reality, these meetings devolved into endless gossip and relentless bashing of other teams within the company—both on personal and professional grounds. This same behavior extended to the team chat on the phone, where negative comments about colleagues were openly shared. Rather than fostering professionalism or collaboration, the environment was entirely focused on negativity and divisiveness. This company is the most unprofessional organization I’ve ever worked for. If you have a stable job, stay away at all costs. In fact, I would advise against joining even if you are unemployed. The experience simply isn’t worth it.

      Pros

      Slightly better work life balance.

      Cons

Boston Scientific has laid off hundreds of employees silently in year 2024. Employees who technically built their entire Infra from scratch. Great architects and senior people who were loyal to the company for more than 20 years. The reason they told them is the restructuring of the organization. Specially the IT leadership has no common goals and vision. One moment they start hiring new people for the same job and another moment they will fire you without giving any justification. I would suggest if you get an offer from this company..make sure your job will not be stable

Incredible organization that focuses on helping its youngest members develop not only by giving them opportunities within their roles but allowing for employees to join Employee Resource Groups to not only connect more with their peers and harbor culture, but to also allow them to take on roles of responsibility which can lead to companywide visibility.

      Cons

I think one thing that this company falters on is it's ability to hire young, new talent. I know that even with in-house referrals I've had peers who haven't even gotten an interview. Additionally, headcount seems hard to come by, and even when you have the potential to hire someone the headcount can be taken away fairly quickly.
