What is the company culture at Datadog?

-The company has shifted over time and now operates in a culture of fear and blame, particularly from senior leadership. -What was once a collaborative environment has become increasingly focused on cost-cutting and micromanagement. -Leadership—especially from the COO to senior customer success leaders—seems more invested in identifying who to exit next than in developing or retaining strong performers. -Earning potential is routinely chipped away through comp plan changes and shifting expectations, often without clear justification. -Transparency and trust have declined significantly, and psychological safety is lacking. -Unfortunately, this no longer feels like the company I was excited to join years ago.

Great work life balance and culture

- Compensation for graphic designers is below market compared to similar roles in tech, which makes retention challenging. - The “unlimited PTO” policy is misleading in practice, with an unspoken cap of around 20–25 days. - Brand & Creative leadership lacks strong design expertise, which is reflected in inconsistent design direction and decision-making. - Although transparency and collaboration are emphasized, there is a noticeable gap between messaging and reality—employees who raise concerns or push for improvements are not always supported and may face backlash, creating a culture of fear that discourages open dialogue and favors obedience over thoughtful contribution. - Overall, design does not appear to be a priority, and designers’ expertise is often overlooked. The environment tends to favor aligning with executive preferences over thoughtful design decisions, making it difficult to grow or produce high-quality work.

Great company culture, in office policy absolutely promotes collaboration. Personally, I have a great management chain - extremely flexible on work/life balance if you're meeting (realistic) expectations. Benefits are unmatched based on any other company I've worked at or interviewed for. For sales specifically, really strong product, training and sales cycle process. Great career progression opportunity. Overall, I love working at Datadog.

Low base salary. Not necessarily negative - but still experiencing 'growing pains' as far as sales processes / ownership between CS and sales

Benefits, trips, equipments, parties. The members of the team are collaborative and very nice, not the managers.

Rigid and not very skilled management where rudeness is key, humiliating tone used towards the team members as we were in the school, no mistakes are allowed, no effective communication, collaboration doesn’t exist. Unnecessary pressure on the onboarding process and adaptation. No empathy, no flexibility. No team culture and individualism is promoted by the manager in Dublin. Extremely vertical organisation of the Payroll team, excess of control from the senior management.

Datadog is providing space, voice at the table and opportunities for people to grow in their domain. The company had an amazing human centric / trust based culture and is focus on excellence.

Datadog has been nothing but great to me.
