I have been working at Datadog full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Datadog has been a breath of fresh air since day 1. Here are a few reasons why: ***Everyone has been so welcoming, eager to help, passionate about the technology and mission of driving on the rocket ship to IPO ***The technology is top notch which speaks volumes to enterprise sales specifically but also across the board for sales. The company invests 45% in R & D and is also built by engineers for engineers...

    Cons

Can't think of anything negative in all honesty. The only adjustment for me personally is this is the largest company I've ever worked for. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming of how many people you don't know. It's just more of an opportunity to push yourself out of your comfort zone to build new relationships.

    Advice to Management

Continue to ask your team what you can do to help them be successful and always be open to feedback. Proceed with consistent transparency to make employees feel comfortable with what's expected as well as what's to come.

    I worked at Datadog full-time

    Pros

Company is growing fast and if you play your cards right you might be able to move up quickly

    Cons

-Goals are set too high, leading to a highly political, every man for himself type atmosphere -High turnover among reps, lack on knowledge sharing -Poor managers, leading to constant churns in management

    Advice to Management

-Create more structure for sales teams and pay a premium for proven managers -Stop pressuring employees to write incredibly positive fake reviews, when they're always after reviews like this it becomes too obvious

    "Disappointing at all Levels"

      Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Datadog full-time

      Pros

Immediate managers. Some teammates and co-workers.

      Cons

Disappointing experience. Managers are generally not good leaders or communicators. Political environment. Introverted, uninspiring founders; invoke fear because not friendly. Product Security and Quality aren't prioritized. White male/macho culture. Jokes in poor taste in public channels and team events. Founders do not set respectful tone by example. Would not refer friends as job candidates. Alcohol-rich environment;...

I worked at Datadog full-time for more than a year

      Pros

-The organization has incredibly strong leadership, especially on the sales side of things. Front-line leaders have a tough job, but I was lucky enough to work for one that would always go to bat for the team while maintaining a positive attitude during the lows. Our director, Kenny Smith, is a closing wizard and I learned more during my time there than at any previous sales organization. Shaunt Voskanian (VP of Sales)...

      Cons

-Saturated market - At the same time, it's tech. If you're doing well competitors (both proprietary and open source) will follow. Datadog releases a ton of new features all the time and does well staying ahead of the competition. -Monthly driven business means there's constant pressure to be generating new pipeline. Stay on top of the account, add value, and the time will come when they're ready to buy.

      Advice to Management

If a rep closes a new logo and identifies pain that creates opportunites down the road, they should be able to hold onto the account for longer than three months. In my opinion, this will allow reps to naturally grow our footprint without having to offer large discounts just to close as much as possible upfront! Really liked my time at Datadog and thank you to everyone that made it one to remember. Best of luck, Team!

I worked at Datadog full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Lunch was provided 3 days a week. Unlimited snacks.

      Cons

It's a total Bro culture. In fact most execs are White or Asian men. There are very few people of color of both sexes in the company. Which is amazing since HQ is in NYC and not a small metro area. The majority of people of color are admins and the people that serve lunch. There might be some token Black and Hispanic people in each department but they are likely treated poorly. Every mistake and decision is scrutinized...

      Advice to Management

Hire more women executives. Hire more people of color in executive positions. Don't be afraid of diversity it will actually make your company better.

"Fast growing company with high potential"

      StarStarStarStarStar
        Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Datadog

        Pros

Incredible product that’s a great fit in the market and adding features at a rapid pace. Market leading growth rate that will almost certainly lead to an ipo. Once customers buy that don’t leave the platform and expand quickly. Deals are getting bigger and bigger. Huge TAM.

        Cons

Technology is designed to be sold to prospects with modern IT, if they don’t have that or aren’t moving in that direction, can be a challenging sale. Growing very fast so people have to work hard and it can be hard to get the right resources at times.

        Cons
