What is the salary like at Google?

Little security -- yearly layoffs, offshoring. Declining engineering culture. Mature company with little opportunity for advancement to director or higher level from within. Cost controls that make little sense.

The salary is great, the perks are awesome, culture is friendly and welcoming.

There used to be lower emphasis on hours spent working but there has been a notable uptick in demand lately
