What is health insurance like at KPMG?

Toxic work environment with good progression and fringe benefits

      Audit manager
      Former employee
      Singapore
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good place for young graduates to start off because there is lots to learn and you're given alot of opportunities to work on the ground and with clients from the get go. Work progression is fast as long as you dont make massive mistakes and show good atittude, as with other big4 audit firms in singapore. Compensation is fair. Lots of fringe benefits such as medical insurance, several fun company events throughout the year, able to take block leave if planned in advance, hybrid work arrangements, lots of flexibility in terms of working hours and arrangement once you hit manager level.

      Cons

Workload is heavy resulting in long working hours, at least 60 hours a week. Culture is toxic because everyone is forced to work late due to client deadlines and it is seen as the norm. Any voice out against heavy workload is seen as incompetence and will likely affect your performance rating. You are expected not to take leave during peak season (Jan-July), only during off peak (Aug-Dec). There is often insufficient quality resources on audit engagements.

      Pros

Freelancing for a KPMG employee offers valuable networking opportunities within a prestigious professional circle. Collaborating with individuals from such a renowned firm can potentially lead to future freelance work and expand one's professional network. Additionally, completing a one-time job for a KPMG employee enhances credibility and adds a notable name to one's portfolio, which can positively impact future freelance opportunities.

      Cons

Freelancing also comes with its challenges. Inconsistent work and the absence of benefits typical in traditional employment, such as health insurance and paid time off, are significant considerations. Dependency on referrals from the KPMG employee for future work and the potential impact of their reputation on one's own professional image are also factors to bear in mind. Despite these challenges, freelancing for a KPMG employee presents an opportunity for valuable networking and skill development within the professional services industry.
