What is the hiring process like at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory?

Wonderful work environment. Best decision I could have made coming to work at LLNL.

Slow hiring process. I submitted my resume and didn't hear for a couple months, almost forgot about applying for the position, then I got a call to interview.

Great work culture. Asking questions is not only ok but it is appreciated. Staff scientists and post-docs are generally interested in helping more junior employees and everyone is seeking collaboration.

There are some bad apples as with any employer. Some supervisors are not active with their junior employees and you really need to advocate for yourself when it comes to receiving what was promised during the hiring process. Get everything you are seeking and agree to in writing or it did not happen and they will not follow through.

The work offers a large variety of skills to be applied from talent acquisition, learning about niche projects and technical work, process improvement and alignment, HR consultation and other specialty projects. This can lead to learning a lot of new things and open doors for career paths. I feel challenged but in the best way because I feel like I never stop learning and stretched in all the best ways. Also our teams are amazing and very collaborative. Being a part of cutting edge, critical work is very exciting. I am proud to be an LLNLer!
