      Overall Great Company

      Ssg
      Current employee
      Natick, MA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Benefits are unlike anything I've seen from previous jobs (free food, trips to Boston, FL, and NH fairly often), the 401k match is great, having regularly scheduled bonuses is great, very strong work/life balance, WFH policy is fair, everyone feels like regular people (I say hi in the hallway to top executives/the CEO almost weekly and it's like talking to a friend)

      Cons

I could probably make more if I went somewhere else, but I likely wouldn't get the benefits I do here. Moving up or even sideways can be a very slow process. If the CEO ever steps down, I worry the culture will crumble

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great work-life balance, good benefits, and a great place to start your career

      Cons

As a leading tech company, the pay could be more comparable to other tech companies.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work culture and values, Benefits such as Healthcare, working from elsewhere, remote work options and subsidies for gym memberships

      Cons

Compensation “negotiations” barely possible, since everyone is paid within a strict range Location is great for staying in Ireland but makes travel and finding accommodation difficult due to lack of public transport and high accommodation cost

      Stable Job

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Great benefits and perks: Free breakfast and lunch, free gym and classes, discounts, great healthcare, beautiful facilities, company trips, stakeholder bonuses, and more - Agreement on trying to do the right thing; the company as a whole doesn't feel too corporate and it's nice to have leadership who truly understand the products and technology - Job stability - there's never been a quarter where there wasn't a stakeholder bonus. - Nice coworkers who are largely trying to improve processes - Solid work-life balance - Feeling like the work you do is actually making an impact in science and technology

      Cons

      - Culture of "sameness" - speaking up for what you think is right or how things could be done differently is not always valued depending on departmental/manager politics. There is a lot of resistance to change if it's coming from the bottom up. - Executive decision-making is rational until it isn't. The decision to up the number of mandatory in-office days from two to three is a perfect example of this. Execs admitted this was not a data-based decision, but rather because they wanted it. - A hiring freeze is creating some strain. Workload varies wildly from person to person and can be unpredictable. - It's easy to put in the bare minimum without a negative impact as long as you go with the flow and keep your head down, and likewise, it's very easy to work hard and put in quality work without being seen.

      Pros

Pinch yourself …it’s real … noble mission … nice and extremely smart people … outstanding benefits and work life balance … stunning campus… free gym, free breakfast and lunch … hybrid … be part of making the world better through science and engineering …

      Cons

If you are looking for a title… or to fast track advancement … or to be a hero … this is not the place … it’s just NOT what the company is about … MathWorks is about rational decisions …. collaboration … prepare to be questioned challenged and to bring data and facts to the table with every decision… while things can appear to move slowly … when decisions are made … the organization is “on board” and success will follow as the due diligence has been done…
