Pros
Space to develop your own skills
Trust to do a good job, no micromanagement
Great pay and reasonable benefits
Generally opinions will be listened to
Good work life balance towards the life side.
Cons
Poor/absence of structured Personal Development.
Skill degradation due to specialist work almost always subcontracted.
Communistic approach to performance - everyone gets the same, little incentive to go above and beyond.
No social engagement because of WFH culture encourages people to not talk to each other - most people have poor/little to no social skills.
Lots of talk about training & skills but reality is different: little to no interest, support or guidance in allowing colleagues to learn the new technical, specialist skills they desire.
Developing a career is outweighed towards home life balance.
Focus/support is always to those with families/children, not single child free people who want to develop their careers.
People are encouraged to do the bare minimum.
