They will underpay you on leaving the company on purpose, its the way their pay is calculated by their payroll, which means they are always better off for it, payroll ask you contact your line manager who will in turn ignore your mails (I have read receipts) I asked HR contact she said she would pass my mail to the senior manager, who also did not resolve and did not respond, HR then said nothing she can do, so go back to payroll, who will send you back to your line manager to ignore your mails. If you listen to the telephone number it goes on a lot about not giving payroll staff abuse, then nobody answers anyway and they give you a online link to a form to complete.
You will not get your contract until day one, they advertise in their welcoming set up that you may need to work up to 25 minutes longer on a 8 hour day, less on less hours, but the contract states you have to work any overtime they ever want you to, and they will give you 24 hours notice, however the managers in practice might not tell you until you leave work the day before. As they are such terrible employers I was told by a manager that most people leave after the first week, as the work is too hard, this means that other employees are put under such duress that they had a sickness problem with current employees, so all employees were working additional hours, this seemed common. Their busiest times is over the autumn and winter months, the contract stated they may also bring in yearly hours instead of the current weekly, so they will request you work additional hours all over autumn and winter and MAYBE give you less in the summer, when they are less busy due to school holidays and that they will only give you a months notice of this major change.
So on a 30 hour contract over 5 days, you will actually be working from 8.30am to 5.30 -6.45pm, on my day out we had no breaks either, this seemed the norm, as it is easier to deliver the mail before it gets too dark to see house numbers, one manager seemed to think all the hard work was funny but ok and expected as "life is difficult".
Also the contract states you will have to do any other chores the manager thinks you are capable of, so there is nothing to stop them getting you in earlier to sort your own post on top of the hours taken to deliver it.
The recruitment application process stated you may have to lift 11kg, this will turn into can you lift 16 kg later in a telephone interview, then after you get the role, in their welcome videos this turns into the over the shoulder mail bag can be up to 16kg. They do trolleys, but these will hold you up as they have to be locked all the time, and the expectation seemed to be that you get your daily post and don't go home until it is delivered, hence why they want you to work any hours they need, no matter what hours your contract is for.
