Pros
The OR is incredibly well-supported. Amazing manager. Team is good at giving lunch breaks. Rush does a good job advocating for innovative and quality care.
Cons
I worked at Rush for six years, during that time I had excellent performance reviews with either no annual raise or literally a handful of cents. The finance department does not endorse cost of living adjustments to their wages, so they do not guarantee any raises. Benefits have been significantly rolled back, healthcare premiums increase every year, and despite feeling well supported in the OR (I have worked other units as well), every unit is severely understaffed, leading to constant bombarded on your days off with “SOS” calls, required overtime and call. If Rush spent even half of the money that they have spent on union busting on increased salaries, hiring, and benefits, they would have better retention. The clinical ladder system that they have in place essentially pays RNs slightly more to take on the work that should be done by an educator or quality/compliance coordinator - which is really taking advantage of their employees. I left for better work-life balance and better compensation.
