What are perks and other benefits like at Sanford Health?

Good people to work with, mostly flexible with hours and PTO.

Local management has very little say, everything comes from corporate, pay is very poor, benefits seem on par with other healthcare facilities (mediocre), not willing to negotiate pay or benefits which insinuates that employees are easily replaceable. One of those places that say they really care about you, then throw a pizza party instead of a pay raise. They run a skeleton crew in most departments, as most people in patient care will step up for their patients, however there is high turnover as people get burnt out from caregiving. The competition with other health systems in the area is next to nonexistent so they can operate this way without much consequence, however if a competing system such as essentia stepped up and built a hospital here and Sanford continued to treat its employees the way it does, the hospital would lose hundreds of good employees.

Decent pay, good hours and benefits

The job itself is kind of boring

Sanford offers a decent 401K match that can be higher than other health systems, especially in the Midwest. They generally have up-to-date facilities and prioritize using the newest equipment and technologies.

I think the employee experience here varies by job code, but is generally poor for registered nurses. To be fair, both of the Dakotas are among the lowest paying states for RNs, with South Dakota being the lowest (50th). The low wages and rather skimpy benefits promotes a revolving door culture. You would be hard pressed today to maintain a decent standard of living in either of the system’s main regional centers (Fargo and Sioux Falls) on the typical Sanford RN salary as cost of living has sky rocketed in each without commensurate pay adjustments.

Not flexible work hours, very strict work from home policy (which is understandable)

Excellent people to work with in the inpatient Pharmacy. They try to do good for you.

Cooperate offices control most benefits and severely restricts how they can incentives and pay employees. Technician is a somewhat dead end job and there is very little room for growth in this company with that job title

Most of the people who work there are nice and friendly.

Benefits are very bottom line oriented- Health care program forces you to doctor at Sanford while being an employee- others are out of network. Basic benefits not offered by company- no maternity or paternity leave- FMLA only, all leaves, short term disability, etc., goes through third company called Unum that is terrible to work with. Human Resources is also just as terrible to work with internally at Sanford. Company forces you to use “holiday PTO” for every major holiday which means using your regular PTO- even though they claim to provide enough for both situations. Environment is very clique oriented in that many have already established social groups and cultures that you must either find a way to try to coexist with or spend a lot of effort trying to enter.

Good benefits and average pay. I loved my team.
