How are career development opportunities at Schneider?

      Pros

Good introduction to the logistics industry and stepping stone to better opportunities.

      Cons

Poor retention strategies, below market salary, rampant and blatant favoritism, poor leadership, lack of career opportunity if you aren’t one of a select few that benefit from favoritism, and a subpar training program led by inexperienced directors that haven’t done the role they developing programs for.

      Solid company to work for

      Pros

The people here at Schneider are great. There is ample opportunity to grow within your career in many different types of business roles. If you put your best effort forth on a consistent basis, the company will reward you with promotion opportunities. The trucking industry has it's ups and downs, but the relationships you build here feel strong. I have been blessed with great leadership as well who are open to feedback, hear me, and listen to my concerns.

      Cons

The pay is middle of the road. To caveat that comment, working here you get a 90-year history of strength within the trucking industry built on a family-oriented foundation. Longevity and the promise of a job, in my opinion, outweigh the risk of higher pay elsewhere.

      Definitely an experience

      Pros

Some of the partnerships and those perks.

      Cons

Schneider boasts excellent initial training, but this is overshadowed by a deeply flawed and demoralizing work environment. The culture is toxic, resembling a high school social hierarchy where career advancement hinges on favoritism and self-promotion rather than merit. Hardworking managers are consistently forced to compensate for underperforming colleagues, leading to burnout and a pervasive sense of unfairness. The recent removal of team bonuses despite record profits (9 billion!) served as the final straw. The high employee turnover, with many leaving after just one week, is a stark indicator of the problems within the company. I strongly advise potential candidates to seriously consider the implications of this toxic culture before accepting a position.

      Pros

Great benefits package, great colleagues, and opportunity to participate in employee resource groups. Organization has strong roots to the local community as well, and there are a variety of departments/lines of business to support individual career growth opportunities.

      Cons

Recent RTO mandate (employees were allowed to have a hybrid schedule before), which eliminated a lot of work/life balance + flexibility. Workloads can be a bit overwhelming, and pay is not competitive when compared to the volume of work.
