What is the hiring process like at Trane Technologies?

      Trane Technologies reviews

Something isn't adding up - so many mixed messages

      Leadership
      Current employee
      Davidson, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Coworkers would be a plus.

      Cons

Changes in leadership monthly. Alot of "retirements" from executive leadership lately. Have been in a hiring freeze for a year while they continue to hire techs but will not allow supporting departments to add staff to properly support the hundreds of techs hired. Travel freeze most of the year then the company has the audacity to mandate return to work 100% for everyone if within 30 miles of any office because of lack of collaboration. We haven't been able to operate like a real company growing all areas of the organization properly this past year, trave when needed to conferences and/or ther Trane offices to collaborate but they do this on the heels of laying off 300 employees in October. A few hundred in Tyler Texas in September. Not a single communication about it. 24 hours notice given to managers about the return to work before it was broadly email blasted. No time for managers to ask questions. All of this conveniently done after the employee survey was completed. They got the timing right on that... the survey results just do not match what people are saying either about work life balance so I struggle to believe the survey results.

      Management is Terrible

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      There is really not any

      Cons

No work life balance. Management will continue to make demands of you while piling on more work and tell you, you aren't doing enough. D&I is a joke. There is no defined structure or sop on how anything is done. There is no training. They will hire new people on pay them significantly more than you and demand that you teach them how to do their job. They will try to take advantage of you if you don't know you're employee rights. There is rampant favoritism on all levels. Your work and ethics will absolutely not matter and when you point this out and bring up issues they will do everything they can to get rid of you.

      Pros

8% 401k, laid back, gift on holidays

      Cons

Hard to advance unless you have someone who wants you to have the job hiring.

      Solid Employer

      Senior data analyst
      Current employee
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Reliable company. Pays decent. Coworkers are nice people. Seems like they don't do major layoffs. Your job is usually safe for a long time.

      Cons

Moves very slowly. Lots of bureaucratic policies in place that slows development. Relies heavily on agencies instead of hiring talent internally.

Trane is a great HVAC company to work for

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Top-notch people and premium products Process driven and lean conscious Culture of sustainability

      Cons

Career growth into executive ranks is enigmatic and often through appointment rather than competitive process (Better chance to come from external interview process than from within). Slow to invest for growth (risk averse to a fault due to short-term thinking from financial cycle of public traded company) Little collaboration between business units (stove-piped)

      Pros

They actually give their co-ops projects to work on unlike other internship. They care about sustainability and inclusion. They also have a great path from intern to direct hire.

      Cons

When you don't have a project it gets very boring.

Started off good and then new directors came followed by business merging...

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Remote for the last few years. Good matching retirement.

      Cons

Management makes their favoritism obvious, isolating anyone who isn’t in their preferred circle. Work is routinely withheld from the rest of the team and reserved for favorites. While in meetings, I've observed leadership openly condescending, especially towards women, and repeatedly asking for “trust” while avoiding transparency. HR is consistently unresponsive and disorganized. When I relocated states, it took multiple calls, emails, and messages to get basic paperwork and pay adjustments corrected. A few months later, they messed up my pay. Despite marketing themselves as a “Best Employer for Women,” I reported inappropriate behavior involving management, but it took 2–3 weeks for anyone to act on it, despite extensive documentation. The culture has continued to deteriorate: when communicating with leadership, questions often went unanswered. Even after record-breaking results, they blamed “economic headwinds” to justify the layoff. HR was nearly unreachable throughout the process.

Love Trane but do not love the RTW mandates

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Trane has been an amazing company with great teams and culture. Always supported work life balance but I’m scared that may change. Always opportunities for new roles as they like to hire internally

      Cons

I have been remote since I started at Trane and they now are forcing return to work mandates 4 days a week. I think this really is going to put a strain on our culture and work life balance. Another con would be senior leadership. It feels like they’re always being replaced or switched around. No one has a streamlined goal which makes it hard on employees.

      Pros

Recruiter and hiring team will act like very kind and well spoken during hiring. Act like goons when firing.

      Cons

The positive reviews which you can see here are paid and that tag of great place to work. The reality is people chose this company as last option. I joined because I got heavy joining bonus with condition to join early by negotiating notice period in previous company. They are hurry in hiring and firing. Very unstable and directionless organisation I have seen so far. Politics is like villagers and illiterates are fighting. I mean physical assault also happen.
