I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 59A in Jun 2024
Interview
The interview process was great. It was fairly quick and straightforward - the whole process was done within around 2 weeks and it consisted of 3 stages: an initial video call, a presentation and going into the office to meet the team. I received glowing feedback all throughout and really got on well with my interviewers. After the final stage, I was told by my recruiter that I'd be receiving an offer. I was overjoyed by this news and was super excited to work for what I thought was a great company. I waited and waited for the offer (and had another job offer revoked as a result) but it never came. I was told by my recruiter that this was because the company was reviewing the finances for the second half of the year to see if they had the budget for my role.
I was incredibly shocked, upset and disappointed upon finding this out, as they shouldn't have posted the job if they weren't sure about the budget, let alone making me do 3 stages of interviews and losing out on another job offer as a result. To make it worse, not once did they directly contact to me to apologise or explain - the news was delivered by my recruiter.
Not only does this suggest that 59A may not be doing well financially, but it shows a complete lack of thought, care and respect for applicants in an already difficult job market. I'd therefore like to warn people to NOT apply to 59A, unless they want to be disrespected, have their time wasted and miss out on other potential opportunities.
