S: In my second year of undergraduate, I became a team leader of Young Volunteer Service Team. T: I needed to lead 20 members to nursing home every week to interact with their residents and bring the feeling of home to the nursing home. A: Firstly, before we went here I would communicate with staff in nursing home to know what we can help them and what we should notice and then do a plan. Secondly, I would allocate my team members to different tasks according to my plan and their different behaviors. For example, I would ask a member who is talkative to communicate with the elderly and ask a member who likes doing households to help nursing home’s cleaners and I believe they can do well. Thirdly, when we finished this activity I would seek feedback from the nursing home. For one thing, I would ask the staff in nursing home to fill a feedback form which can help me know which part we did well so that we can keep and which part we are weak of so that we can improve. For another thing, I would communicate with those older people and ask their opinions. Finally, I scheduled a meeting of the full team to discuss feedback from the nursing home to help them know where they can perform better and I will ask them some opinions about my leading style-did I ignore something or am I bossy? R: After actively sought for feedbacks and improved the performance of the team, we received compliments by nursing home and praise from our school.
