AN2 Therapeutics interview questions

I interviewed with AN2 Therapeutics for a position on the accounting team. The CFO and Controller were both professional, engaging, and clearly understood the needs of a growing public biotech company. We discussed my background in biotech accounting, R and D and clinical accruals, and financial reporting. From the very first conversation, I was transparent that my direct SEC-reporting experience was limited, though I’m familiar with preparing supporting schedules and disclosures. The team acknowledged this and still invited me to participate in four rounds of interviews. After the final round, I was informed that the lack of SEC reporting experience was the reason I wasn’t selected, which was disappointing since that gap was understood from the outset. During one later interview, a contractor asked in a presumptive and somewhat condescending way why I had “been laid off a lot.” The question was inaccurate and phrased poorly, leaving an unprofessional impression.
