Interview
I received an email that they are impressed by my CV and want to set up a 30 min interview. The problem was that the email was sent to my spam folder and I didn’t see it until 5 days later. When I did see the email I replied and apologized. There was a link to make an appointment but the link was giving me error. I thought it was expired. I received no reply. I sent a second email some days later to see if I have a chance still. And tried the link and this time it worked and I could set up an interview appointment. At the same time they replied that they are glad to see my reply and we will meet on the interview through the MS Team. But they did not show up on the interview!!!! For 45 minutes I was in the room waiting and no one showed up. I emailed them mentioning that I was there and they didn’t show up and asked if we can meet later. Then after a while they emailed me that they moved on with another candidate!!! It was less than 12 hours after they emailed me mentioning that they are happy to see my reply and want to proceed with the interview. I think they have found a candidate over night! Also why not coming to the interview or letting me know before that. I was waiting for 45 minutes. That’s totally unprofessional.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AVIVA Biosciences (San Diego, CA) in May 2023
Interview
The interview itself was nice. I felt like I was well qualified for the role. Maybe even over-qualified. The actual interview itself was fine and I walked away feeling pretty good. It wasn't until after the interview that I started to realize how incompetent this company is. I emailed them regarding salary, stating I had overlooked it. They were about to pay 25/hr for this role. Which doesn't add up at all considering the level of expertise they seemed to be looking for in their job description. So this was the first red flag. But after a few days of thinking about it, I figured I'd put my ego aside and email them again. I told them something along the lines of, if you guys can't pay this role that much, then I'll enjoy the technical experience. I waited patiently for a response and was literally ghosted. No automated rejection email. No phone call. Nothing. Just crickets. This lack of professionalism in handling a candidate just made me realize how blessed I am to not have to work for such a pathetic company.
