      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Accenture (Bengaluru) in Jan 2025

      Interview

The technical interview round went smoothly and I was selected for the HR round. This is where things went wrong. I was asked to update my PAN and salary slip which I did promptly. Then, the HR called me and asked about my experience. I had explained that I had a career break from 2017 to 2018 due to family problems and I had to work in a tier 3 city just to make ends meet. The HR seems to be fixated with this and asked me if I can provide PF details and so on. This was essentially a sabbatical and I was freelancing, so providing such documents was not feasible from my side. My previous 8 years of experience before 2016 from 2008 in a big 4 IT company and top British bank was not counted and this 2 years of sabbatical was a contentious note to the HR. Please make a note that starting 2019, I joined the workforce again and I'm in a permanent role in a private Limited company with proper PF account and salary slips. I've been working in this company for 6 years and if I'm a fraud as projected, I'll not be in this industry working in a client facing senior role. As a feedback to the HR practices in your company, the much touted return to work policy from a sabbatical break in MNC culture is a myth in the Indian IT landscape and this needs to change. If more details needs to be looked into, please check the tech interview feedback from the interviewer. Below is the experience I've in the industry barring the freelance period and this needs to be looked into before we jumped into conclusion about a sabbatical break. Jun 2008 - Mar 2012 - Big 4 Indian IT (Software engineer, later promoted to Senior Software engineer) Mar 2012 - September 2016 - British Bank ( Technical Analyst) October 2016 - Feb 2019 - Sabbatical due to sickness in the family Mar 2019 - Present - Silicon valley based IT company ( Senior Admin, Promoted to Lead Specialist, Later promoted to Principal Consultant)
