Intial Communication from HR via email, no phone interview to start with just asked me to schedule a time to do an in person interview. Good follow up email. I arrived early to a small office space in the afternoon. All the salesmen were quietly typing away on laptops. I mean quite as a library! These are salespeople I thought, this is the bullpen?! Shhh...anyway maybe they just wanted to overhear the interview? The office was warm, I am hoping they are given conditioning in summer? It could've been me wearing a suit and nerves you know, hot seat and all. I was interviewing for a sales role. The office manager wore a sweatshirt,so casual attire on Fridays I presume? Very polite and offered me a bottle of water. I felt comfortable talking to them and ended up explaining the difference between direct selling and channel sales as well as giving tips on new lead generation outside of marketing. I almost had the feeling she was apologetic about the poor quality of products they sell out of China, poor quality control and really similar to all the competitors products,so I assured her salesman findthe selling points needed even if it's just a relationship with the client. At the end of the interview I felt I'd been consulting them rather than interviewing which is nice because it's always nice to share what you know. I was there for 90 minutes and was told the position air travels only once per quarter to visit accounts, big holidays off, bonus plan quarterly, if 80% of monthly quota is hit you share in 1% profits, medical benifits but alas no 401K or match. Which is a bummer because I waited 90 minutes to find that out. All and all a nice opportunity for the right person, if you speak Chinese you're in a good spot for understanding the conference calls as well.
