It was a sit down interview in their basement office and it was very low-key in the sense of it felt like a conversation rather than an interview. I was tested on my knowledge of certain issues.

I applied online. I interviewed at Adbusters (Vancouver, BC)
Interview
I had an interview with the owner of the company, without the presence of the team. I mainly discussed what I was passionate about, and expressed interests in the work they do.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Adbusters (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2019
Interview
You submit a cover letter and resume by email. The publisher emails back within hours and invites you to "drop by" in the next few days for a "chat." You interpret this as a sign of keen interest. You visit the office the next business day in the late afternoon, as suggested (no specific time was given).
You arrive at 4pm, a few minutes after two other visitors. You sit on the well-worn couch and leaf through the publication. You wait 45 minutes. Finally, you pop your head in the publisher's office and introduce yourself. He looks surprised and asks why you're here. You answer that he invited you, after having received your application by email.
He offers you a chair in his office.
