      Senior Solutions Architect Interview

      Nov 19, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Mateo, CA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Akamai (San Mateo, CA) in Oct 2012

      Interview

      1. the recruiter reached out to me after applying on Akamai's website and had a brief chat regarding salary requirements, position details..etc. then he mentioned that he would set up two phone calls - one with the hiring manager and another technical interview with another senior solutions architect. 2. the two calls with the hiring manager and senior architect went pretty well. hiring manager was interested more in my attitude and was focussing on the basics (some of which were rusty) - HTTP caching headers, HTTP responses..etc, what is the difference between a codec and container. and some questions outside of work - what 2 numbers add upto 10? Very casual and it went well. Second call with the sr architect went well too - Can you please describe the TCP session setup? and TCP congestion avoidance algorithms. After this i was invited onsite at San Mateo for more interviews 3. Onsite @ San Mateo - had 6 45 min interviews including one more with the hiring manager, an account manager for which you might be potentially working with, 2 senior architects and another practice manager. over all went very well, interviews were focussing more on the attitude. the senior architects were more interested on the technical side - DNS flows, does the DNS need to be an authoritative if you are using a CDN..etc, what are some of Akamai's offerings in the DNS space and some fundamentals of how they work 4. After the onsite interview, i had one more phone interview with the director of the services organization - he wanted to find out more about the different trends in video streaming - hwat problems is MPEG DASH trying to solve ? What is HTML 5? and also outside or work - what are your hobbies? IMO all interviews went pretty well and it was a good experience All the people i talked to were pretty great and knowledgeable in their respective fields. I feel 45 min per interview is not much time to show case all your skills and what you can bring to the table. I did not notice the time running out on almost all interview slots. But a great place to work for.

      Bengaluru
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Akamai (Bengaluru) in May 2016

      Interview

HR Screening:- You would be ask about the your current role and whether you understood the Job Description and are you okay to go ahead. Manager Round(1st Technical Round):- You would be questioned on your current projects. Also the manager would try to know how well did you understand about the JD and are you okay to works in Shift. They will also ask you questions where in you had actually implemented a solution to check your situation handling capacity. Plus few technical questions on HTTP and Internet technologies. Presentation Round(2nd Round):- Once you clear the 1st Tech round you would be asked to give a presentation on either HTTP or DNS. Make sure you prepare the presentation by your on w/o using any available PPT on google. They will ask you questions in the answer you give, so make sure you're through with the concepts. Try to keep less then 20 slides since they ask questions on each slide and you'll just have 1 hour to wrap everything. I choose HTTP. Needless to say you should be fluent in English which would work in your favor while giving the Presentation and even if you don't know the answer put a smile on your face an give an attempt to ans it rather then passing it. Logical Reasoning(3rd Round):- You would be give 2 puzzles to solve which are relatively simple. I got 3 Bulbs in a room and crossing the river puzzle which you can google easily on google. Plus you would also be give 2 situation based scenarios to see your approach. Day as SA(4th Round):- Panel would walk you through the work they do on daily basic. This is more of you listening and the interviewer telling you so make sure you're attentive. Senior Manager Round(5th Round):- Again Some questions on yourself and why Akamai and why SA profile be confident and answer honestly. Make sure you don't ask stupid things like is there onsite opportunity and stuff. HR Round(6th Round):- Salary Discussion and questions related to yours previous companies and why did you left them. Plus HR would give a brief on benefits available in Akamai Hearing and Email Writing Test(English)(7th Round):- This is something like IELTS. If you're good in English you don't need to be afraid of this one. If you take my opinion this was very easy if your hear everything properly.
