Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Interview

Process is pretty standard. Nothing unusual, except they don't even come with feedback when interviews are over. I have to chase them to get the feedback. Don't recommend to waste time for this guys, even basic respect is too difficult for them.

Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Allied Telesis (Christchurch, Canterbury) in Aug 2014

Interview

Since it was an application for an internship it was much easier than it would be for an actual full time job I imagine. The interview was very informal and the main questions were about personality and things mentioned in the CV in your application. There was no formal technical test. They asked some questions about general knowledge of software engineering and programming and what you learnt at your university courses.
