      Software Development Manager Interview

      Sep 5, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon Robotics (Boston, MA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

A friend passed my resume to recruiting. They put me in the leveling track which is basically managers at the same level as the position asking you about your experience as it relates to the Amazon leadership principles. I spent several days preparing, watching youtubes videos and reading articles. I spoke with 2 managers and got leveled down, primarily because I had not managed a team larger than 15 people and had no experience with products that comprised of hundreds of thousands of devices. Fair enough. The position the recruiter made me apply for was not the position I was interested in but she would not let me change it. The recruiter spent no time trying to get to know me. I spoke to her for a total of probably 5 mins across 3 phone calls. I was scheduled to speak to the hiring manager and I just told the recruiter to cancel it. My experience with the recruiter and my overall impression of what it is like to work at Amazon led me to the decision I don't want to work there.

      Question 1
