I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amtrak (Kansas City, MO) in Sep 2015
Interview
After applying online, I was called in to take a short mechanical test. The recruiter e-mailed with a passing notice two weeks later, and scheduled an interview. The local interview was given by the foreman and an electrician, and asked common questions regarding experience, and training. Ten days later I was e-mailed an offer from Amtrak, after completing a physical, drug test, and a background check.
I met 5 engineers and the interview took about an hour. They asked questions about the technicality of the job. I answered all their inquiries. The interview was all about how I do fix things.
