Interview
I’m writing this because I became an interviewer and think the process is a joke. Literally everyone who interviewed me left the company because it’s a stepping stone. I’m sharing this info in case anyone wants help. But know your worth. Lots of other great companies out there looking for good candidates. Make Applied Medical work for your offer.
Applied Medical is desperate for team members. If you make it to a recruiter, your already well on your way. If your considering a position, just know you probably have the job if your okay with the low pay. Don’t show any red flags. Negotiating salary is a must. Come in with a goal for what you want to learn in the job. Know what the responsibilities are for the position. Have 5 stories prepared. At least pretend you value the culture.
In the panel interview, just know the interviewers probably didn’t coordinate questions. Just focus on having a discussion about who you are. The more you ask them to explain things, the more time you eat up from the interview. You look like a curious person. Trust me, it will work to your advantage.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
“Tell me about a time when…”
They will start every question with that.
The company is shady and has a terrible interview process. The role was advertised as an Associate Product Manager role but the recruiter tells you that it is a clinical development analyst role during the initial call. They ask for 5 references after the first interview even though there are still 2 more rounds left. Interview process is disconnected and redundant. I was asked the same questions in both of my interviews and it was a waste of time.

Interview
Had a brief phone interview with the recruiter, then a one hour webcam interview via Zoom with a couple of team members. Moved to the next round and was invited to an on-site tour and panel interview. Toured the office briefly, then participated in the panel interview with four team members. I was asked to prepare a presentation as part of the panel interview.

Question 1
The team would like for you to submit a presentation (about 5-10 minutes) about an app or website you found to be especially interesting or effective. What makes it work? How can it be improved? What type of roles would be needed to develop this app or website?
