Time-intensive process without thoughtful evaluation
I rarely do interview reviews, but this interview experience felt notably careless with candidates’ time. I was asked to complete a fairly involved (poorly AI-generated) assignment and approached it thoughtfully. However, in the subsequent interview, it became clear the interviewer had not reviewed my submission and had limited familiarity with the Executive Assistant function itself.
Requiring unpaid candidate work without taking the time to evaluate it meaningfully creates a discouraging and unprofessional experience. The process felt disorganized, misaligned, and ultimately like a poor use of time and energy.
I applied online. I interviewed at Arena Technologies (NY) in Sep 2025
Interview
At least for Software Engineer role, as far as I understand, they send the same take-home assignment (integrating an agentic chatbot into the UAVLogViewer in GitHub) to every single person who applied in the US automatically. Because if you check the fork list in the repository I shared, you see lots of forks that are done by people who applied to this role.
After spending weeks building a nice and robust chatbot and meeting all the requirements they expect, I submitted it. A week later, they asked me to present it in a 30-minute session.
From the faces and reactions of the people in the interview, it was so clear that they were not interested in my chatbot and in moving forward with my application since the 1st minute of our meeting. They looked so negative and looked like they just wanted the meeting to end as soon as possible.
This was the 1st red flag: How do you expect someone to give good presentation and answers while looking so negative and uninterested?
After that meeting, I followed up a week later but they completely ghosted.
For future interviewees: I know that the first instinct you have might be this: "Oh, if I try to build the best thing possible, I’m sure they will move forward with me." But don’t trust that instinct and don’t waste your time and energy on their assignments unless you think it will be a good project for your portfolio.

Interview
Recruiter screen, then take home test followed by a 1 hour behavioral, then an onsite. Onsite consisted of a system design and a leetcode style interview .
Avoid, didn't even have the decency to email me saying they weren't moving forward. Just ghosted.
