Very unstructured. It was sort of a "let's just get to know each other" framework with the hiring manager for a fairly senior leadership role. Red flags all over this from the start -- how can you actually gauge signal or depth / experience when it's a coffee chat? An interview is an interview, a coffee chat is a coffee chat. Trying to mix the two into one is confusing and misleading. This hiring manager recently came out of a large, established tech company after a long tenure, and my sense is that they are in over their head / haven't had to hire at this scale or seniority before. The HM just felt junior overall / lacked executive presence.
TL;DR: I did not have a great first impression, and didn't bring my A-game as a result. Took away the sense that Atlassian is heavily bloated, layered, and there are lot of VP/ SVP roles that will ultimately create massive bottlenecks and slowly drive the company into the ground.
Suffice to say, the HM passed on me, but I passed on them before the call was over. Seems like the sentiment in company reviews about the company culture degrading stands true based on my short experience.
