I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Sydney) in Nov 2021
Interview
The HR person on Atlassian was amazing, very responsive, very friendly, helped a lot and answered all questions I had.
I had 3 interviews:
- A design challenge: where I chatted with a Atlassian engineer and we went through an application and how to deploy it on AWS, it was great, the engineer feedback was also great.
- Python challenge and
- Systems (Linux) challenge:
Both of those interviews were really weird, very basic questions, questions that don't relate to a Senior position, I went to the interview expecting to discuss some complex technical questions, describe my experience, and situations I had worked on.
But the questions were so basic, like what a top command does, what is swap. It felt like I was doing a 2nd semester of a Computer Science school test.
Atlassian seems to be a great company, I just suggest that you focus on what they will exactly ask for the interview, instead on focusing on your actual experience, maybe re-read the Operational Systems book from your Computer Science degree :|
