The interview consists of a few questions, a scenario roleplay, and an observation.
The interview questions touch on my past work and education, my understanding of ABA concept, and my understanding of the role. The interviewer asked me to demonstrate how i would build rapport with an autistic child and after that, they let me observe how the therapists do their work for an hour.
I was accepted for the job position and underwent the training for 3 weeks before i decided to terminate my contract.
Full disclosure: There is an indemnity payment for those who quit the training after the cooling period. If you quit during probation period, you have to give 6 weeks notice. If you're a confirmed employee, you are bonded to the company for a year. After the bond, you can quit but with a 4 month notice period. Be wary of your decision to work here. Notice period should not be this long. They purposely make it difficult for you to quit. However, if behavior therapy is your true passion and you know you can do it, go for it. The peer support is great and you get a lot of opportunity to learn and sharpen your skills. The knowledge and experience is invaluable but the job did not align with my career goals. Choose wisely.
