Online application, followed by a call from HR about a month later to schedule a 1st stage interview. Once interview was confirmed, I followed up with HR with a few questions about the interview process, to which I received no response. On the day of interview, a different manager turned up to conduct the interview (appreciate this happens sometimes but I received no notice about this). Interviewer proceeds to ask me about myself, but as I begin to answer, he interrupts and clarifies he is not interested in my professional experience at this stage but me as an individual. He proceeds to ask questions such as "Am I married?", "Do I have kids?", "What do I like to do for fun?", "Do I drink?" There are different ways to get to know a candidate on a "personal level", but I think all these questions asked were inappropriate and completely irrelevant to the position. For an interviewer who claims to have interviewed hundreds of candidates, he definitely needs training! I didn't hear back from HR for over 3 weeks after the interview, only to receive a generic rejection email. It makes me wonder what the assessment criteria was, given I was not asked any relevant questions by the programme manager. The whole process seemed a bit odd from the lack of communication from HR to the unprofessional questions asked by the interviewer. Honestly, not the best use of your time if you are proactively job searching. I would not recommend BT.
