I had a mixed experience with the interview process at Babylon Farms. As someone accustomed to working closely with CEOs and startups in San Francisco, I was genuinely excited about the alignment between the company's mission and my background. However, the interview process raised concerns about professionalism and communication within the organization. My initial interaction was unexpected—an impromptu call from Alexander, the CEO. Caught off guard during a client meeting break, I did my best to engage in the conversation while juggling my ongoing commitments. Due to the distraction, I found myself rambling a bit. Although I should have communicated that the timing wasn't ideal, my eagerness to explore the opportunity compelled me to stay on the call. When my client returned, I explained that I needed to reschedule the conversation for a more suitable time. Alexander understood and suggested we reconnect later after sending a text to coordinate. Promptly following the call, I reached out via text to propose alternative times for further discussion. Unfortunately, my attempts received no response. A subsequent follow-up led to Alexander's apology for the delay, along with the suggestion of Monday or Tuesday for the call. I responded with my availability, yet there was no confirmation or call as agreed upon. This lack of follow-through has left me feeling disrespected and ignored. As a seasoned marketer and creative professional, I place great importance on transparent communication and mutual respect for each other's time. While I recognize the demands of busy schedules, consistent and proactive communication remains essential for fostering a positive candidate experience. I constructively offer this feedback for prospective applicants and the CEO's personal growth as a leader. In conclusion, my curiosity about the potential at Babylon Farms remains intact. However, enhancing communication practices will benefit candidates and employees alike. A collaborative and transparent approach can foster stronger relationships and contribute to a thriving work environment.
