The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works (Norfolk, VA) in May 2011
Interview
I filled in an application and received a call within the week to attend a group interview. Since it was a group interview, I felt that standing out was key, but I made it a point not to be obnoxious about holding attention either. I dressed moderately conservatively and arrived on time. Only one other person showed up for the interview (there were supposed to be two more) so I guess I lucked out on that end. The Assistant Store Manager, who deals with hiring, asked me "stock" questions provided by the company. All of them dealt with customer service in a retail environment. It helps to know a little about the store beforehand but experience and knowledge were not required. It was better to show energy and good work ethic. Received a call the same day after the manager did background checks and was hired.

Very structured and easygoing. The hiring manager was very polite and asked important questions. I didn't hear back until about two weeks later, and I accepted the position. Ended up working there for 4 years and had an awesome experience.
