I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works (Jacksonville, IL) in Mar 2024
Interview
I was allowed to be interviewed by an associate manager in training who had less than two weeks on the job and had ridiculously unprofessional conduct. She asked me several questions where she cut me short mid answer to expand the question or outright change the subject. I was asked how I could transition to a sales role when I literally run my own business and develop my own leads. I have 20 years sales experience but because my work is in the construction industry she couldn't inderstand what my sales experience actually was. Then I was asked to give a product demo with zero preparation time or pertinent information to "gauge my ability to interface with customers". A month later I get an email saying that they've pursued other candidates with more experience in the industry. We're talking about a dead-simple entry level position, and they called me unqualified? I was likely more qualified to manage than anyone in the store judging by the uncoordinated interview. Then I find out from a friend who works there that they literally conversed on whether they could hire a "manly man" for the position. I suppose the answer is no. I make $60 hourly freelancing and I don't appreciate having my time wasted. I could have been immediately passed over when they saw "male" checked on my application and it would have saved us all the time and embarassment.
Group interview. Typical questions about past experience, dealing with customers, and working with a team. They also ask you to pick a product and describe what you like about it like you’re trying to sell it.

Interview
First, they called to set up an interview. Then, they interviewed in a small employee area of the store. They said they would get back to me within three days then they ghosted me. I called to follow up and was told they would get back to me the next week. Again, I was ghosted with zero communication (not even a rejection email).

Group interview with 2 other people. Pretty straightforward questions like your work experience, favorite scent, why you want to work there, and availability. The manager was super nice and friendly.
