First round is the casual chat with the hiring manager, and the second round is a take-home task, after doing an in-person presentation. They may ask you questions based on your presentation
It was a good chat, but when I asked about engineering culture, it felt like the definitions on both sides were very different. There was nothing wrong or right, but the perception from a person coming from a couple of hundrades of engineers VS around 30 engineers made a lot of difference.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Experience in people management and tech leadership
I applied online. I interviewed at Beforepay in Jul 2024
Interview
phone screening was normal and standard. then a technical interview. Chat about your past experience, followed by 2 technical pair coding tests(simple SQL, mid level leetcode python). The technical interview itself was OK but the hiring manager is extremely arrogant and always lowballing you during the interview. Picking minor things and questioning 'why haven't you done this before?' They are looking for someone who can deliver end-to-end ML work with a junior engineer budget, unrealistic expectation and awful team culture.
