I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock (New York, NY) in Dec 2016
Interview
I applied online for summer analyst. Once the application completed, I immediately received a virtual cover letter link to submit a video recording. Then for Financial Modeling Group, I received a coding test invitation (you can choose coding or statistical skills test).

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at BlackRock
Interview
One phone screen and onsite interview with 4 people (30 minutes each). Mostly questions surrounding my resume. I was expecting algorithm questions, but did not get any. Everyone was very friendly and it sounded like they were doing interesting things in the group.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions about resume. What is going on undercover in Python Lists, why are working with numpy arrays faster? Tell me about Python generators. Describe c++ VTable.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at BlackRock in Jan 2016
Interview
It was an on-campus interview, mainly went through the resume. Maybe it was because I know nothing about C++, which they use at work. The interviewer was very nice and gave me hints when I was trapped somewhere. I was rejected a week later and this was not beyond my expectation at all. Overall, they want someone in coding.
