I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at BlackRock (New York, NY) in Aug 2020
Interview
The interview was not very bad. It was less than I expected. I expected it to be harder than it was. I did a lot of research on BlackRock before applying. The questions were asked only once, with a three minute time to prepare. Answer the question in 2 minutes, then it's automatically saved. The coding questions could be done at different time within the 96 hrs time frame.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2017
Interview
The application interview was through HireVue. You were recorded during the whole process. First, there were 4 fairly complex programming questions that involved algorithms and reading from a file. Second, you were to record yourself answering a question "What qualities make you fit for this position?" or something along those lines.
I was offered an interview in person for October 12 so I will see how that goes.
