I applied online. I interviewed at Blackhawk Network (San Francisco, CA)
First interview was short (15 mins) done by a recruiter (who was late by at least 5 mins) asking basic questions about background and Java experience. Assigned a coderbyte assessment, but gave incorrect information about the freedom of programming language choice when asked (incorrectly stated that I was free to use whatever programming language I wanted to answer the assessment), as it was locked to coding only in Java. The assessment environment was poor compared to environments such as Hackerrank and Leetcode due to all logging and test case information being printed out to the console over and over, so you have previous program run attempts cluttering the output log. UI terribly organized and the problem statements were horrid in laying out the expectations of the desired solution.
- Problems given via CoderByte: TreeNode Constructor problem (1st part of the question) and validating the Binary Tree (2nd part of the question). SumMultiplier problem (check to see if 2 of the largest integers in the list, when multiplied, are larger than double the sum of the list)

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blackhawk Network in Feb 2023
Applied online, finished online assessment and got first round of interview. A hiring manager was late for 15 min. He asked some general questions regarding past experience. When I was answering , he seems pretty quiet and not very responsive. After half of the interview time, a LC hard question was given, with only a title but without description. I wasn't clear of what it asked all along, he seems lazy to further explain. I finished half of the question, then time is up. I need to write all the test cases and class of TreeNode from scratch. It's impossible to finish the code of this difficulty, test the cases within only 20 min without having completed similar question before (imagine testing binary tree questions, you need to insert the tree nodes yourself). I don't understand what is the point of a hard leetcode question without enough explaination. I expected lots of questions regarding Java/Spring. I feel like he doesn't care at all, just picking a random hard question to filter out people not practicing hard LC questions. No questions asked regarding Java framework or Database, maybe they really need someone good at solving Leetcode questions, which is a fundemental part of future work and Software Engineering for them after all! Rejection letter arrives few hours after the interview.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Blackhawk Network
Met with 4 different people including the hiring manager first and the person who is currently in the role but leaving. The HM was super nice and very transparent with the challenges of the role, why the previous person was leaving and what they were looking for. The whole interview was trying to explain the position and the chaos. Next was a back to back 1.5 hour interview broken into three 30-min interviews with team members (Senior managers and controller). The first person I met with was late to the call and seemed very disorganized. I wasn't even sure they reviewed my resume. The questions seemed sporadic. The second person who was currently in the role but going back to her previous position was nice and shared more insight, but didn't really ask me any questions. I led the interview with my questions. The last person, the Controller, was also nice and was prepared. She clearly read through my resume, but you could tell she was looking for a certain "type" of person to fit the role. Everyone just kept stressing how chaotic and intense and fast paced the role was.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Blackhawk Network (Bengaluru) in Mar 2022
Took the interview a month ago. The interviewer interviewing me had less number of years of experience than me. Asked irreverent question during the interview. Was asked to solve a problem on the 5 horses puzzle. Seems strange as to what does a product manager have to do with solving puzzles ? Seriously ??? But he himself didn’t know as to how the puzzle was supposed to be framed!! The company hasn’t even reverted back with results .
- Asked me to build my app and the roadmap I would follow to build the same .

A total mess. There were problems scheduling, and getting follow ups. Last minute cancellation, and scatter brained people. This led me to believe the org has some problems. The products do look decent.
- There were almost no questions, just a lot of them reading my resume and them backing up what I wrote.
