Anonymous Interview Candidate in Woking, England
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boots Opticians (Woking, England) in Aug 2023
This was at a small opticians based in a Boots store. Turned up and there was no one around so had to wait 10 mins past my interview time until someone finally showed up. Spoke to someone who asked for the email then passed me onto someone else. This person told me the manager wasn’t in today and spoke to me for about 5 mins asking about myself and making jokes/flirty comments which made me uncomfortable. Took my details and said the manager would call me to rearrange. Got a call about 15 mins later from a different worker (still not the manager) saying I had an interview yesterday (it actually was the day they called so seemed even more so unorganised) and the manager can do next week but I declined to rearrange. Why have a system where you can book an appointment time if the manager won’t be in that day? Or why wasn’t I told beforehand? The first person said to their colleague it was ‘the same issue as this morning’ so doesn’t seem like I was the only person to be disappointed that day. So unprofessional and doubt I’ll be seeking work here in the future.
- None because the manager wasn’t in to interview me.

I have applied through their website. They got back to me in a few days to choose a date and time for my interview. It was a one stage interview with the manager. She asked a lot of questions reading from the questionnaire. Most of them standards customer service interview questions. A few hours after the interview I received email confirming I wasn’t accepted.
