Listed salary was $50,000 ~ $60,000 USD.
After 2 months of 4 interviews totaling nearly 4 hours I received an offer for $33,454 USD, and $880 signing bonus.
1. Email coding test on hackerrank.com.
2. Video call coding test. Both tests were brainteasers unrelated to front-end development.
3. Video call with two executives.
3.1. HR requested I send 2 colleague references after speaking with their executives.
3.2. HR contacted my Chinese-Australian colleague, and asked how good my Korean language skills were (?).
3.3. HR contacted current colleague, and asked how often I do overtime, and if I have ever done all-nighters for the company (?).
4. Video call with 4 executives.
5. HR requested 3-months’ pay slips "in order to determine an offer" (?).
6. Received offer via email indicating that a senior level employee requires managerial experience.
8.1. My resume clearly reflected my lack of managerial experience, yet they kept the interview process going for weeks.
8.2. I was also assured numerous times that there would be no formal hierarchy, something Korean companies are notorious for. Yet, HR justified the low offer by informing me that it would be “unfair” to pay me higher than their current employees.
8.3. Also, HR indirectly informed me that I will be able to re-attain my current salary amount after 3 years if I get “1st grade” annual performance every year - “this salary range is reasonable level that's why we offer this amount.” I am currently working in a third-world country.
9. Overall experience was akin to getting catfished by a ladyboy.
