I applied online. I interviewed at ByteDance in Jul 2022
Interview
One round with HR and one round with team member who tried their best to push me to another role which I did not apply for but they insisted I was a better fit for. I conceded and said I am open to conversation only to receive a rejection email the next day. It appears to be a very weird and unprofessional interview process and gives insight into the culture they have at this company.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself. Why did you apply for this role.
The interview process was relatively easy and quick. Altogether it took two weeks and I interviewed with four people including the phone screening with the talent acquisition team. It was overall 7/10

Interview
I understand that it is an organisation that has origins from China but is asking the direct question "Do you speak Chinese?" an appropriate one to ask?
Other than that, though the interview went relatively well; the structure was disorganised and there was no flow to the conversation.
Therefore it became really hard to understand the logic of the discussion as the conversation haphazardly switches from "How do I prioritise my accounts" to Asking a question about past experiences in my previous companies.
