Got a callback from the recruiter about a month after submitting the application. Had a phone interview, then came in for an in-person interview soon after.
The interview itself was fine, they spent 2 hours talking with me and discussing the company and their goals. I thought it went well, and I walked out feeling great.
Another month passes, and I hear back from two managers. Over the phone, they say "if you're still interested in the job, we would like to move forward with the hiring process." I told them that would be great, and they said I'd get paperwork the next week.
Then radio silence. 3 weeks pass and I didn't hear back from them at all. After emailing them 3 or 4 times and calling 3 or 4 times, I was finally able to get into contact with the hiring manager. He said, "I appreciate your patience with this, we're still sorting out the details, but I can tell you that you're definitely in the final hiring pool"
So. I guess "we would like to move forward with the hiring process" doesn't mean much. Another couple weeks pass. Still unresponsive to email ( I only sent one this time ). FINALLY, I get a written job offer. There was a (illegal, I might point out) clause in their non-compete contract that states that you cannot work for any of their clients, potential clients, or competitors within 6 months of leaving the company. So before signing the dotted line, I asked if they could be a bit more specific about what this means.
That pushed some buttons, I suppose, because they retracted the offer a day later.
Long story short, it was a very long and frustrating process with poor communication at all stages. If you want the job, don't ask any questions about the offer, just sign the dotted line.
