    Business Transformation Consultant Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at CGN Global in May 2017.

    Interview

I have given a lot of interviews with a lot of companies, but I had the worst hiring experience with CGN. The process starts with a HR pre screening interview where I was asked normal questions about my resume and why I wish to work for the company. After which, I got selected for the second round which was with one of the consultants working at the company. This was more of a technical round and was asked in-depth about my resume, professional achievements, skills, etc. [I'll keep a tab on the timeline of the process side by side, this interview was 1 week after my first round.] I got selected for the third round which was a case study presentation in front of a panel. A normal case study to test research ability, critical thinking and problem solving. This round also went well, but got rescheduled twice 10 minutes before the presentation because panel suddenly became unavailable. [Three weeks since first round]. I was supposed to be contacted regarding any further steps the following week which I never did. I followed up with the HR for 10 weeks until out of nowhere they decided to have another round of excel assessment. After completion, I was supposed to be contacted the following week, but did not hear back for another 2 weeks after which I received a standard rejection letter.[15 weeks after first round].

The company has only 1 major client and all of their employment is based on the projects they have from them. So, your employment relies on the client and not how CGN is performing overall. They fired tons of people last year because the client had a major fall out. 90% of the employees are Indians.

My recommendation: If you have 4-5 months to spare, then only think about applying for the company after considering the fact that if employed you'll be working with only Indians and your job relies upon 1 manufacturing company which is planning to shift it's process to Mexico.

PS: This is my first review which I was compelled to share because of the horrific experience I faced. I would have shared this even if I would have received an offer.

Had a phone interview and then an in-person interview after submitting writing samples. Between myself and two other candidates, it took these clowns three months to make a decision, and they didn't even bother to tell me until I hounded them.

    Business Transformation Consultant Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at CGN Global (Chicago, IL) in February 2017.

    Interview

I was contacted by the HR for a screening round. After clearing the screening round, I gave a technical interview which involved few analytical questions related to my resume (45 mins)

The last and final round was scheduled to be on a Thursday and it was supposed to be a panel round where I had to present a case study findings. I prepared for my final round and just 1-2 hours before the scheduled time, I received an email from the HR saying that the panel isn't available for that particular day and time. She asked me whether I am free the next week. Having no other choice, I gave her my availability for the next week and hoped to hear back from her soon.
3-4 weeks have passed since that conversation (Feb 2017) and I still haven't heard back from her. I mailed the HR thrice, also called on mobile and left a voice mail to ask for the next possible schedule.

If the company doesn't want to proceed with my final round of interview, the least they could do was communicate with me. This was certainly the most unprofessional way to handle a candidate in a final round of interview. I still don't understand why recruiters behave like this when it comes to having a clear communication with the candidates.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CGN Global (Peoria, IL).

    Interview

First round: Phone Interview (HR screening) basic questions to gauge candidates verbal skills. if the candidate is a lawful immigrant, then CGN would understand work visa sponsorship requirements for the candidate.

Second round: Phone Interview (Sr. Manager/Partner of relevant function). The functional team will most likely reach out to you for next telephonic interview. This is most likely the case, if you are being hand picked for an upcoming assignment. Questions are around your experience and working knowledge in your relevant field of operations.

Third round: On-site Interview (2 rounds, plus case study presentation). This is most likely the final round where you are brought in-house for a face to face interview. There might be multiple panel interviews at the time, where manages/partners from other functions would assess your skill-set to ascertain if you are a fit for their team.

There is a case study presentation, pretty much inline with any other consulting company. Your analytical skills, thought process and presentation skills are evaluated. Since you are applying to be a consultant, don't hold yourself back with making your slides appealing to the audience. As Consulting companies make money of off fancy presentations (likes of Big 3)
