PC Financial- Personal Banking Representative - PBR Interview

      Nov 17, 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Hamilton, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at CIBC (Hamilton, ON) in Nov 2011

      Interview

I applied online via the CIBC.com website. They had listings for positions for CIBC and PC financial. I applied to both companies and only heard from PC. I did however get an email from CIBC saying the position was filled but they kept my resume on file. PC sent me an email requesting a date to set up a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 15-20 mins. It is part of the initial screening process with someone at HR. They asked me questions about PC financial. I think they wanted to see how much I knew about the company. They have a video on the job posting, I strongly recommend watching that. They asked me questions like: How is PC financial different (different way of banking; internet, phone and abm. PBR are expected to approach customers in the grocery aisle, no fee bank account, etc). It is also good to know about their points program. The phone call was laid back and the man interviewing me was very friendly. After the interview he told me that he would send my resume to the hiring manager. I was contacted by the hiring manager and set up a 1:1 interview. When I went to that it was just me and the hiring manager. He told me it is usually 2:1. himself and his boss and the candidate. the 1:1 consisted of many behavioural questions, emphasizing past work experiences. IE: name me a time u were in a conflict and how did u resolve it. name me a time the morale was low, what did you do and what was the outcome. what are your 3 strengths. why did u apply to PC. how did u build a customer relationship and what was the outcome of it. Overall, the interview process was very typical. They were very nice people and didnt want to be intimidating. if you have great experience in dealing with sales targets and customer service this interview process will seem easy
