    I worked at CIBC full-time

    Pros

In NY, senior management are accessible and most of the people are pretty friendly. Hours are reasonable. Benefits are average for the industry.

    Cons

Conservative and myopic Canadian management, combined with constant strategy changes and poor communication, creates frustration in NY. In the >5yrs I was there, not one women on the trading floor was promoted to an MD. Limited promotional or lateral opportunities in general; preference was to hire externally at the more senior level. Aggressive HR.

    Advice to Management

Be honest, respect and encourage your employees. People can see through the warm and fuzzy BS act.

    Advice to Management

Not to allow verbal abuse to occur in the office. When an employee is being abused, it should be taken seriously and the abuser should be addressed. The screaming and hollering was degrading. I went home hysterical every night due to such unprofessional treatment.
