I worked at CIBC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

My review is based on experience working at the United States HQ in Chicago. - Across lines of business and borders, there are a lot of great individuals employed at this organization. - The benefits are pretty great and include over 30 days off, complimentary medical testing and an abundance of events. - Generally a very respectful environment, which is not always the case in financial services. - Fantastic work-life balance.

    Cons

    - If you're not a blatantly revenue generating part of the bank, your resources may be extremely limited. This may even reach the point that you can't even do your job to your full capacity, - The technology available is years behind most businesses. They don't even have WiFi in the office. - Limited transparency within the organization across several levels.

I have been working at CIBC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Overall nice people and work life balance

    Cons

Global bank CIBC acquired local The Private Bank- pretty much former Lasalle Bank employees-very clicky and mistrustful towards people who are not them. They promoted their own people left and right during acquisition. There is no diversity-in the sense that if you are not part of 'the bus', you might have a hard time. Your merit wont matter at this point. No accountability for management. A lot of people should never be in the position of managing their own dog, let alone other people, they are "outdated"
