I received 4 emails and 6 phone calls to set up 1 short interview. Extensive follow up was required to receive an invite for the meeting requested and scheduled at the interviewers convenience.
A conversation prior to getting an interview focused on the question of whether or not I was real based on my LinkedIn profile photo and spoke about both my body and my skin colour. I was told not to take that the wrong way and that they we’re attempting due-diligence to confirm my authenticity.
During the interview I found that the expectations for the role were well outside of the job description, extending beyond the definition of the role advertised. If I had not already earned qualifications beyond the role I may not have flagged the claim that the responsibility of three roles were actually being requested without being documented on the job description.
There was also a heavy focus not advertised on individuals that are already living the consistent personal lifestyle choice of being camping and camp adventure enthusiasts who circulate within the closed community of camp and retreat areas. This was given preferential status to business and technical competencies listed on the job description.
I also was informed that most of the staff is limited to camp community work experience and the team has limited diversity. Operations seem understaffed and the company has limited reporting and models to analyze success criteria that could indicate underperformance in appropriate analysis on success, risk assessment and revenue.
This role has attempted to be filled multiple times with heavy turnover.
During the interview I was kept well beyond time limits for the call and asked to complete a project post call to summarize experience as the extensive experience discussed was not being heard. I completed this time consuming project with no response. Feedback was requested and not provided.
If applying to this position please be aware that I am identifying risk associated with accepting this role.
In over a decade of career advancement and enterprise executive collaboration I am rarely surprised… this was both a surprising and disappointing experience.
I understand the need for employment and encourage those to apply but with caution as there will be a clear cost involved in taking this position and on target earnings or commissions may not be relied upon.
