First interview with HR scheduled. On the day of interview (5 minutes after the interview was supposed to begin), I received an email asking to reschedule. It took a week for company to reschedule and then another week and a half before the HR interview happened.
HR interview was very surface - no hard questions.
At end of the interview, I was told I was one of 5 people moving ahead to interview with the business. My business interview was scheduled several weeks out. Unfortunately, this interview was canceled the night before without explanation. Then it took several weeks to hear back on rescheduling.
I asked whether I was still being considered for the role. I was assured that I was "absolutely" being considered and that they were committed to going through the process with the 5 people.
The interview was rescheduled and then canceled the night before. It was scheduled again for 2 days later only to be canceled 2 hours before it was to occur. The explanation was "we are going in a new direction" with an offer to connect via phone if desired.
During the follow-up HR phone call, I asked what "going in a new direction" meant, I was offered the following explanation: "Hiring mgr got a resume this week and is hiring someone he knows".
I did share politely that my experience as a candidate was a challenging one (given the above). I was then offered the following explanation: "We are going through a lot of organizational changes which sometimes impacts candidate experience".
I am not sure what that means, but I am pretty sure that proper calendar management would have solved the pain for me.
It is not about not getting the role, it is about the cancellations and lack of honesty in dealing with me as a candidate. In the end it felt like a waste of time.
