      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Irving, TX) in Oct 2023

      Interview

The interview process was rather complicated and drawn out. I interviewed first with a recruiter. After a few week I was called for a second interview and at the beginning of the interview I found out he was ALSO a recruiter. After a few weeks I got a call to schedule a third interview with a panel of people. It just seemed like a massive waste of time and resources to span the interview process out for months with multiple recruiters and panel interviews.

      Question 1

They ask questions in the STAR format.

      Interview

This program is designed for PhD graduates. There are two rounds of interviews. First is with a few managers. Ran leadership questions for about 1 hr. Second is a technical presentation since this program is for PhDs.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me a time you observed safety guidance. (Caterpillar emphasizes a lot on safety.) Tell me a time you resolved a conflict in your workplace.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Brooklyn Park, MN) in Apr 2017

      Interview

no initial phone interview, I was called to setup an on site interview out of the blue. The process only involved an onsite interview. Interviewed with 3 employees for an hour and half who only asked STAR behavioral questions. Probably went through about 20 questions.

Tell me about a time where you were able to have success or find a solution when others could not.
