Director, Global People Operations and HRIS Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ChargePoint in Jun 2024

      Interview

I started off the interview process with Chargepoint extremely excited about the company and the opportunity. The initial phases of the process went super fast - within a few days of applying online, the recruiter reached out to me for a phone screen. I had a 45 minute phone screen scheduled but we went for 1 hour as it was a great call with a lot of enthusiasm on both ends. They scheduled me to speak to the hiring manager for the very next day. After the hiring manager screen, I was pretty quickly scheduled to speak to a series of 4 different people on the team that would be interacting with this position. I rearranged my schedule and completed these interviews over 2 days. Given how quickly we had moved through the process so far, I expected a pretty quick turnaround for a decision. Then came the waiting game. Three weeks went by with no update. I reached out to the recruiter each week and while she would respond, her response turnaround times became longer and longer and there was no new information to be shared. I was half expecting the company to just eventually ghost me. Finally, the recruiter called me directly and let me know that the reason for the delay was that the budget for the role was reduced by a very significant amount. It was pretty disappointing that this decision was made only after I had already invested time in having 6 separate interviews with the team. The recruiter said she would follow up with the hiring manager to see if there was any flexibility and get back to me, but never did. And I still see the role posted for the original (incorrect salary) amount. So potential future candidates, beware that the range you see is not what you will get. It's unfortunate that what started off as a great and promising candidate experienced turned into one that left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they can organize themselves a little better and make sure they have their ducks in a row going forward before wasting anyone's time.

      Interview

The interview process was ineffective and extremely challenging. The questions asked during the application process contributed to a very negative candidate experience. My follow-up messages were ignored, and I was ghosted, only to receive a rejection notice on a Saturday at 5:07 PM, which reflects poorly on their company culture.
